The funds raised went to the Imagination Destinations room wraps in both the main Children’s Hospital of Michigan campus in Detroit and the new Children’s Hospital location in Troy. Room wraps for MRI rooms help make the frightening procedure easier for children. 72% of children require sedation for MRI procedures, which leads to increased patient risk, increased stress for both the patient and their parents, additional time for each test, and delayed testing of other non-emergency MRI procedures. It is anticipated that the use of these room wraps will cause the use of sedation to be necessary in only 60% of patients, allowing for 2-3 more tests per day. This means that children who may have waited 3 weeks for a non-emergency MRI can now be seen within 72 hours!
