Annual Speed Networking Event for Commercial Real Estate Professionals

July 1, 2015 / BY / IN Blog, Event Management

Date: July 1, 2015

Location: The Townsend Hotel, Birmingham, MI

Guests: 170+

Description: Commercial real estate professionals took part in another successful night of speed networking. Guests engaged in a fast-paced and exciting style of networking that cannot be matched by the average networking event.

The event took place on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, from 5:30-8:00pm at The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham. Over 170 leaders from various sectors of the real estate world, including developers, title companies, insurance agencies, restoration businesses, bankers, and many more, were in attendance.

This year’s event was presented by BELFOR Property Restoration, Title Connect, The Professional Group, and featured a keynote by Katharine Czarnecki, Director of Community Development for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

“We sponsored this event last year and it proved a great opportunity to network and build relationships with Michigan’s key developers in a unique format. I often attend networking events where the bar is the center of attention. This event is different. It is well organized, and a great way to connect with people. We look forward to it every year,” said Jeff Gunsberg, principle, Title Connect of Farmington Hills.

Commercial real estate sponsors included Agree Realty, Beztak, Group 10 Management, Farbman Group, Ramco-Gershenson Properties Trust, Redico, and Schostak. Several of the area’s top legal firms also partnered with the event, including 1800 Law Firm, Butzel Long, Clark Hill, and Varnum Law.

Derek Dickow, organizer of the event and founder of Steward Media, said, “We more than doubled in size from 70 participants last year to over 170 this year. It’s no secret that people need to build valuable relationships to succeed. Sometimes they need the right opportunity and a good connector. That what we provide. Every sponsor has been vetted, is an organization we believe in and know we can provide value. We connect the dots – plain and simple.”

Professionals had five minutes to introduce themselves, give a brief elevator pitch for their product or service, and then, at the signal, rotate to the next professional. The short time encouraged guests to stay on point with every pitch, which meant more work topics were discussed.

“I attended both the 2014 and 2015 events and found the attendees to be high caliber veterans of the real estate and allied industries” said Nicholas Maloof from Associated Environmental, “I met up with many current and past clients and referral sources and met a few potential new ones as well.”
