Description: The Hon. Rick Snyder, Governor of the State of Michigan, along with numerous elected officials, volunteers, and hundreds of supporters gathered at the Mitchell Residence on Monday, November 27th, to celebrate and kick-off Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley ‘s campaign for Governor of Michigan.
Over 200 guests enjoyed strolling appetizers from Andiamo’s and conversed with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor. A VIP reception was held at the beginning of the event for the event chairs and co-chairs.
The formal program included remarks from Mark Mitchell, Governor Snyder, and Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley. Gov. Snyder acknowledged Calley as “the best Lieutenant Governor in the country” and supported his run for governor, as it would be “an opportunity to continue the reinvention of Michigan – to make it stronger.”
After announcing his bid seeking the Republican nomination, the Lt. Gov. expressed the issues that he will focus on as governor; the top being education. “My aim is not to be top ten; my first most important agenda item is to make Michigan the number one K-12 system in all of America. You want to end poverty in one generation? Give every single child a great education. You want to have the safest state in the nation? Make sure every kid can read by 3rd grade and gets a great education beyond that.”
A video recapping Michigan’s growth during Calley’s time as the Lt. Gov. was shown to remind people how far we’ve come and how much further we can go. Check it out below!
